![]() That doesn't end well either! Many think it's because it's becasue George is cheap and I think it's partly the case but it's also because he doesn't like anyone getting credit for something he did no matter how insignificant. George is dating Julie also highly intelligent and attractive woman but it ends because she doesn't correct an assumption that she may have that she bought a big salad for Elaine when it was actually George. He just can't get past it and ruins it based on that! But if you know Jerry it's not shocking just highly amusing that Newman is they one person he can't deal with rejecting a woman he finds appealing. Jerry can't get over that his new girlfriend and attractive lawyer once dated Newman and that he dumped her. This is an episode that works best if your know the characters reasonably well. Indicating that the woman, despite her being able to discuss her favorite newspaper columnists (yawn)-together with her apparent humorlessness-(Jerry cracks a joke in the beginning of the episode, and he gets nothing out of her)- really isn't all she's cracked up to be. Secondly, I'm sorry, but she most certainly should have mentioned that George paid for the item when presenting it to Elaine.Lastly, when confronted about it, she shows no remorse despite the fact that he does, indeed, have a point. Or, at least, he wasn't 100% wrong.First, right off the bat, she shouldn't have even picked up the package containing the salad when it was placed on the table at the diner when they were leaving. He was dead on at being upset with his girlfriend for overstepping her mark. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. We're supposed to always think that George is a horse's ass, and therefore could never possibly be right about something. However, the episode does has one saving grace(and, the bit with Newman having previously dumped Jerry's current girlfriend was inventive). A REAL murder? In a situation comedy? No. And the subplot involving the baseball catcher killing the dry cleaner is more than just a bit distasteful. ![]() So big and so good, I could barely finish!
